Fr. Robert Bengry: Silence
St. Therese of Lisieux has much to say in her writings of unjust treatment, of being misunderstood and judged. Those problems still exist for many today. Our whole culture is pessimistic, judgemental and impatient; it’s hard not to be a part of that, especially if you don't have real joy in your life yourself.
When you are judged harshly by your enemies or simply misunderstood, how do you react? Do you lash out or withdraw? Do you let it bother you? Many people do those things and they do not find the peace of soul that all people seek. Can St. Therese of Lisieux’s advice in regard to silence be helpful?
There is a spiritual battle to be won by each and every Catholic. What does victory look like? Or better maybe, How does it sound? — Fr. Robert Bengry
